Today we were being joined by new customers from all over the world for the ASG “hybrid” ATPL theory course. Students chose to "login" from the USA, the UK, Argentina, and Switzerland while we were also joined by students who decided to physically “sit in” for our classes!

ASG now offers an innovative new "hybrid" classroom concept in order to provide you with the ultimate flexibility when choosing how you would like to attend their ATPL revision classes with us. You can now choose to sit-in or log-in for your classes. You can even alternate from day to day, by logging in on one day or physically attending the class on the next.

The concept is simple: our "live" ATPL revision classes will continue to be conducted on location in Dublin, Ireland. Some students may be "in-class" and others will be attending by logging in. In order to ensure a fantastic classroom experience for those attending remotely, we have invested in 4K webcams, a dedicated instructor login station, and a classroom facing flat-screen display where the faces of those attending remotely will even be displayed to the students who are attending physically - so everyone will feel part of our new "hybrid" classroom environment!

Aside from affording the possibility of reducing associated travel/accommodation costs, with the current global pandemic it will also permit students to attend who, due to current travel restrictions, may not be able to travel to us. It even allows our current students to decide to "drop in" for a subject revision if they have already completed the respective model (subject to classroom capacity).

The ASG team has just recently completed the delivery of an intensive two-week Search and Rescue (SAR) Aviation Tasking & Co-ordination course to members of the Irish Coast Guard (IRCG), An Garda Síochána, and the Irish Aviation Authority (IAA).

The aim of the course was to provide in-depth theoretical knowledge in subjects relevant to SAR Aviation Tasking and Co-ordination (SATaC). Some of the subjects included: Operational Risk Management, Meteorology, Navigation and map-reading, Principles of Flight / Mass & Balance, Flight Planning, Air Law, Communications, Operational Procedures, Human Factors and Crew Resource Management (CRM), SAR Operations, Fatigue Risk Management and Flight Time Limitations.

We are very proud to be assisting Ireland's front line services with critical training of this nature: eight (8) of our instructors were involved using videoconferencing technologies. We have a team of 20+ instructors who are operational in the aviation industry and include: current airline pilots, type rating instructors, helicopter / SAR Pilots, aircraft and avionics technicians, human factors specialists, military pilot instructors, aeronautical engineers, and air traffic controllers.

Over the past few months, we have built up significant expertise and experience in delivering courses for customers remotely and we were delighted to be able to use this expertise to provide this vital training to the Irish Coast Guard which co-ordinates all Search and Rescue (SAR) services for Ireland 24 hours per day, 365 days per year.
