PadPilot ATPL theory books are now accessible across all devices

ASG is excited to share the news that our trusted education publisher, PadPilot, has launched a new version of their manuals that is accessible across Android and laptop or desktop computers together with Apple iOs devices. This development is a significant step forward in making the high-quality content and engaging book resources provided by PadPilot more accessible to students.

For many years, PadPilot student manuals have been an integral part of ASG's training program, providing our students with comprehensive and up-to-date books for their Private Pilot Licence (PPL) and Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL) theory training. The innovative use of multimedia and interactive features has made learning more engaging and effective for our students’ learning.

Until recently, the PadPilot manuals were only available as iBooks through iOS, which meant that students had to own or purchase an iPad to access the content. However, with the new PadPilot eReader application, students can now access the same high-quality content and resources across Android and on their laptop or desktop computer. This is a significant development, as it means that students can now access the material without the need for an additional device.

The new PadPilot eReader application includes interactive 3D models, animated diagrams, and videos, all of which help students to understand complex concepts and procedures more easily. Furthermore, the application allows students to track their progress, and access additional resources to enhance their learning. This combined with ASG’s own online learning centre with hundreds of hours of resources available across all devices makes ASG the best choice for both ATPL and PPL theory training.

ASG is pleased to announce the commencement of our highly anticipated two-week Flight Operations & Dispatch training course on Monday 9th May 2023.

We were honoured to have been selected by the United Nations (UN), ASL Airlines, and SAS Scandinavian Airlines, to train their personnel to the standard required to fulfil the new requirements set out by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) for the training of Flight Operations & dispatch personnel. Their participation further validates the quality, relevance, and industry recognition of our program.

Spanning a ten-day period, the course offers an immersive learning experience, comprising 90 hours of intensive classroom instruction. ASG's training program adheres strictly to the guidelines specified in the ICAO DOC 10106 and the IOSA/IATA Standards Manual. These industry standards are crucial for the training and continued professional development of flight operations and dispatch personnel, ensuring compliance with international best practices.

ASG's course covers a diverse range of topics, providing a solid foundation of knowledge for flight operations and dispatch personnel. It caters to both newcomers without practical flight operations experience and seasoned professionals seeking to enhance their skill sets as part of a recurrent training programme. ASG takes pride in a team of experienced and knowledgeable instructors with operational experience who are dedicated to delivering engaging and effective training sessions, ensuring that participants gain practical insights and real-world understanding of flight operations and dispatch.

ASG is committed to providing high-quality training that meets the evolving requirements of the aviation industry. We recognize the critical role that flight operations and dispatch personnel play in ensuring safe and efficient air travel, and our training program aims to empower them with the necessary knowledge and skills to excel in their roles.

ASG is proud to have expanded our close training partnership with the Irish Coast Guard (IRCG), Ireland’s SAR and Maritime Safety Agency. We recently developed, and successfully delivered, the organisation's first recurrent training programme for Watch Officers engaged in Search & Rescue (SAR) aircraft tasking.

Our partnership with the IRCG began almost five years ago when we began working closely with their team on the development of a bespoke Search & Rescue Tasking and Co-ordination (SATAC) training course for their personnel.

Since the development of this initial course, we have successfully delivered this specialised training course to over 100 Watch Officers across 11 two-week courses. We have also welcomed visiting course participants from a variety of external agencies including the Irish Aviation Authority (IAA), the UK HM Coast Guard, and the Irish Police Garda Air Support Unit (GASU).

Participants on this recurrent training course had previously completed the full SATAC course and this new course was specifically designed to refresh participant knowledge. The course included Operational Risk Management, Emergency Response Planning, Meteorology, Navigation and map-reading, Flight Planning, Air Law, Communications, SAR operating procedures, Flight Time Limitations, Human Factors and Crew Resource Management (CRM).

As one of Ireland's frontline "blue light" service, the IRCG’s mission is to deliver a world class SAR, maritime casualty, and pollution response service to the Irish coastline – we are proud to support them with this safety critical training as they deliver on their mission to co-ordinate all Search & Rescue services in Ireland, 24 hours per day and 365 days per year.

We’re really excited to be launching the ASG ATPL theory “Masterclass series” which was created our top-class instructional team as part of our proud partnership with the Airline Pilot Club (APC).

Sign up to the APC by clicking below to access the upcoming webinar on February 13th at 19:00 UTC where we will provide an introduction to the series.

The video series will benefit all Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL) theory students regardless of their chosen training organisation by helping them to study smarter and to maximise their grades by bringing subject specific exam guidance into focus. The series will also prove to be useful for those student Pilots who have just commenced, or have an interest in commencing Pilot training, and would like to have a better appreciation for what to expect should they decide to progress with their professional Pilot studies.

The series includes an introductory video outlining some general hints and tips for how to approach ATPL theory study followed by thirteen 1-hour tutorial videos created by the ASG team each of which addresses the specific subjects on the ATPL theory syllabus. The aim of each video is not to attempt to cover the entire subject in a single presentation which, of course, would not be possible. Each of the videos provides an overview of the subject and its real-world relevance to life as an operational Pilot, the exam format/duration, some exam hints and tips, the areas where questions are taken from the EASA learning outcomes for the specific subject, and some basic ATPL theory question practise.

Existing ASG students: can access the "masterclass" series on our own learning centre together with our entire support network for students on their ATPL theory journey with us.

External students: can access the webinar with details on how to access the free series by signing up to the APC below (there is no charge for membership with the APC).
