Five new Pilots join the ASG crew

Welcome to ASG! This evening some new Pilots have joined our crew and they're attending from four different countries.

With our “game changing” hybrid classroom, ASG students can now elect to attend our live classes online without ever having to leave their home! The concept is simple: our "live" ATPL revision classes are conducted on location in Dublin, Ireland. Some students are "in-class" and others will be attending by logging in. In order to ensure a fantastic classroom experience for those attending remotely, we have invested in 4K webcams, a dedicated instructor login station, and a classroom facing flat-screen display where the faces of those attending remotely will even be displayed to the students who are attending physically - so everyone feels part of our "hybrid" classroom environment!

Aside from affording the possibility of reducing associated travel/accommodation costs for students worldwide, with the current global pandemic it also permits students to attend who, due to current travel restrictions, might not be able to travel to attend classes. They can choose to sit their exams with any EASA Authority.

ASG has agreed a partnership to work closely with Simtech Aviation to provide students with preferential access and rates to undertake Simtech Aviation's industry leading APS-MCC (Airline Pilot Specific Multi-Crew Co-operation) and MCC-JOC (Multi-Crew Co-operation and Jet Orientation Course) courses. ASG will also now provide ATPL theory training on behalf of Simtech Aviation and its customers.

Key ATPL theory features

  • All ATPL theory training can be completed online, including revision classes, or students can elect to alternate between attending class online (login) or in-class (sit-in).
  • If attending classes remotely, there are no travel or visa costs
  • Students can elect to sit the ATPL examinations in any EASA member state
  • The industry's leading ATPL instructional team (see here for details).

Commenting on the partnership, Diarmuid O'Riordan (ASG founder), noted:

"
We are delighted to partner with Simtech Aviation which has been a pillar brand in aviation training for many years. Both ASG & Simtech Aviation have a firm vision of delivering the highest quality aviation training.

ASG's administrative and classroom facilities will now be permanently based at Simtech's unique aviation training centre. Our ATPL students are fortunate to have the opportunity to learn in a 20,000 square feet training centre located right next to Dublin Airport in a facility which has been designed from the ground up to provide a best-in-class learning environment for aviation professionals. We are fortunate to share this fantastic facility with a number of airlines and training organisations and it houses a fleet of Full-motion and fixed-base Flight Simulation Devices, some of which our students get to sample on their breaks from classes. It really is a unique aviation training environment which is ideal for any aspiring aviation student.

Although it is not the most expensive component of Pilot training, the decision as to where to complete an APS/MCC/JOC course is one of the most important choices which a student will face in terms of their likely success with Airline Assessments and subsequent Type Ratings. I  completed my own MCC/JOC course with Simtech Aviation so I can personally testify to the exceptional standard of Pilot training that they provide. There is simply no better preparation for a job with an Airline and we are delighted to be able to expand our partnership with them".

Des Wynne, Simtech Aviation Sales Director, added: "We are delighted to offer ATPL theory courses as a part of our overall services offering. This will enable both enable experienced ICAO Commercial Pilot License holders convert to an EASA license and EASA PPL holders looking to move to a Commercial Pilots License complete their theory course with some of the best instructors in the industry. The added benefit of being able to attend the classes via an online platform enables us to access the global training market and we are excited by the potential opportunities".

ASG partners with Florida flight school to provide hour building solutions for our students

10/3/2021

In order to meet the requirements to commence Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) training, modular students are required to build up a certain amount of flight experience. This is commonly referred to as "hour building". With weather and fuel prices in Europe, this can prove to be costly and take significantly longer than is necessary.

ASG Managing Director, Diarmuid O'Riordan, comments that:

"In order to assist our ATPL theory students, we have established a partnership with the
Irish-owned Flight School, Global Flight Training Solutions (GFTS), in Florida (USA) in order to make the hour building process as efficient, fun, easy, and inexpensive as possible
.

While many hour building packages are offered across the US, few are
Irish owned and designed specifically for visiting European students. Quite often the rates that are quoted involve no training or administrative support and are simply aircraft rates with fuel. This is not practicable for a European student given the nuances of the FAA system and the local regulatory requirements.

Our new training partners have a track record for delivering the highest standards of training and safety, and we really look forward to building on this relationship. Their team will be able to guide students through the processes and provide local training in order to get you in the air to build your hours as quickly and as safely as possible.

Having completed my own hour building there, I can personally testify to the fact that Southwest Florida, which enjoys more than
300 days of sunshine per year, is the ideal location for building flight experience prior to progressing to Commercial flight training"
Picture

Our partner is based at the 24hr Immokalee Regional Airport which boasts two 5000ft (1500m) runways. Landing fees at our 24hr homebase are included and you will find that many airports in Florida do not charge for visiting aircraft!

Hour building aircraft and rates

As an example of the savings possible, for our Cessna 172 aircraft, we can book you a 100hr flight time building package for as little as €11,500 excluding flights/accommodation. In Europe, 100 flight hours would would cost in excess of €20,000 and would take significantly longer to accrue.

Included in our rates are:

  • A personalized, intensive 4 to 6-week hour building program
  • Customized training for any experience level
  • Exclusive access to our C172s, the industry’s finest, safest trainer
  • Up to 10 hours Dual included with an FAA Certificated Flight Instructor
  • Detailed guidance on plane performance, local flying conditions, and rules
  • No hidden fees or extra charges for full-stop or touch-and-go landings

Due to currency fluctuations, our hour building rates can change, please e-mail us on info@asg.ie or call us on +35316859021 for your personalised quotation.

ASG and The APC have today announced the launch of a partnership that is aimed at providing aspirant airline pilots with professional guidance and high-quality theoretical training as they move along the Modular route to an airline pilot career.

APC founder, Captain Andy O’Shea FRAeS along with ASG Managing Director, Diarmuid O’Riordan have unique experience and connections in the airline industry. This partnership will allow them to leverage these wide-ranging resources so that APC members and ASG trainees benefit from introductions to well-known airlines throughout Europe and the best possible start to an airline pilot career.

Commenting on the announcement, APC founder and CEO, Captain Andy O’Shea said “We are very pleased to announce the launch of our partnership with ASG. I am very aware of the quality that Diarmuid O’Riordan and his team provides to ASG students. We are excited to give our members access to these and other ASG training services".

Diarmuid O’Riordan, ASG’s founder added: “We’re excited to be partnering with the APC. The modular flight training market can prove to be a real challenge to navigate for prospective Pilots with the many options, permutations, and potential pitfalls. The wealth of industry knowledge, training acumen, and experience that both Capts. Andy O’Shea and Petter Hörnfeldt bring to student Pilots is immense. By becoming an APC member, future Pilots can effectively reduce the risks associated with what is a sizable investment – the APC vets its partner ATOs and accepts only those who share their philosophy towards training quality and student success. Moreover, before spending significant sums of money, students who complete APC’s indicative assessment receive a realistic appraisal of their suitability for the role of an airline pilot and, therefore, their likelihood of achieving employment in the future”.

About ASG

ASG is an Approved Training Organisation of the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) permitted to deliver training for the award of an Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL). Since its foundation in 2015, ASG’s approach to ATPL training has been characterised by providing students with a bespoke, high quality, and personalised training experience. The training philosophy is to provide premium quality instruction which will benefit prospective airline pilots throughout their career in aviation, from job interview to operations as an Airline Pilot, and not simply to pass the theoretical knowledge examinations.

Class sizes are limited to ensure the optimum learning environment. The ASG team supports students throughout their ATPL training journey and deliver the highest standards of theoretical knowledge instruction. The team of 25+ instructors are operational in the aviation industry and include: current airline pilots, type rating instructors, aircraft and avionics technicians, human factors specialists, military pilot instructors, aeronautical engineers, and air traffic controllers. Our professional team truly differentiates ASG from other training providers; each instructor is chosen for their subject matter expertise and practical industry experience—invaluable resources to the student experience and helps to bring the ATPL subjects to life.

ASG hosts social event for ATPL theory students

28/1/2021

ATPL theory can be a lonely endeavor at the very best of times, and even more so right now. At ASG we decided to host an online social event last night and were delighted to see 34 people drop in! At times like these it's more important than ever to stay connected and engaged.

It was fantastic for us also to be joined by Capt. Andy O'Shea, founder of The Airline Pilot Club together with Capt. Petter Hörnfeldt of MentourPilot 360. As Ryanair's Head of Training for over 18 years, Andy trained in excess of 10,000 Pilots as his training department facilitated the airline's growth from just a handful of Boeing 737's to over 470. He provided us with some fascinating airline training and industry insights.
