Our part-time ATPL theory course is based on 3 modules of distance learning and classroom instruction totalling 720 hours of study. Training can be completed in 6 months but averages approximately 9 months.

Our course involves an online self-study programme which is managed and overseen by our training team through our online learning management system. After each module, you will attend a number of ATPL refresher training days in Dublin prior to your ATPL examinations. A total of ten refresher training days are scheduled throughout your course
(4 days, 3 days, and 3 days respectively). These training days can now be completed residentially (in-class) or even remotely in our virtual (online) classroom. Now, with our hybrid ATPL classroom, you can choose to "sit in" or "login" and even alternate between both by physically attending class on one day and logging in for the class the next day - this option provides students with the ultimate flexibility for ATPL training.

Conduct of your part-time ATPL theory course

At ASG, our module revision days are timed in line with the published Irish Aviation Authority (IAA) ATPL exam sittings which take place every two months. For example, we have revision dates for all modules in early April in advance of the IAA's April examination dates, in early June in time for the June exam sittings and so on. You can plan the dates for your modules in advance and if the plan changes (depending on your progress) you can easily switch on to a later revision period. All of our training is conducted at Kestrel House in the Dublin Airport Logistics Park right next to Dublin Airport. Daily timings are 12-8pm daily to allow for people travelling to/from the revision sessions.

Now, with our hybrid ATPL classroom, you can choose to "sit in" or "login" and even alternate between both by physically attending class on one day and logging in for the class the next day - this option provides students with the ultimate flexibility for ATPL training.

In terms of daily timetable, we ask you for feedback on which areas that you are having difficulties with and our instructors tailor the day to the student's needs. If we receive no feedback, the instructor completes an overview of the main subject/theories, focussed subject revision and ATPL question practice.

Why choose ASG?

Since our foundation in 2015, our approach to ATPL training has been characterised by providing students with a bespoke, high quality, and personalised training experience. Our training philosophy is to provide premium quality instruction which will benefit prospective airline pilots throughout their career in aviation, from job interview to operations as an Airline Pilot, and not simply to pass the theoretical knowledge examinations - although we know that's important too!

We limit class sizes to ensure the optimum learning environment, support students throughout their ATPL training journey, and deliver the highest standard of theoretical knowledge instruction. Through our high quality instruction, aside from being more likely to excel at your exams, you are likely to retain this important information, be more prepared to land your first airline job, and operate more effectively throughout your career as an Airline Pilot. Don't just "tick the box". The choice as to where you complete your theoretical knowledge training is an important one, and the determining factor should be quality.

Each one of our ATPL instructors are selected for their practical industry experience and expertise in their theoretical domains. While many ATO's use their day-to-day flight instructors for ATPL instruction, by using subject matter experts (directly from industry) we can focus on providing the highest quality of training. We hire directly from the aviation industry and our instructors include: current airline pilots, type rating instructors, aircraft and avionics technicians, human factors specialists, military pilot instructors, aeronautical engineers, and air traffic controllers.  and decide for yourself!

How does the "hybrid" classroom option work?

Picture
ASG now offers an innovative new "hybrid" classroom concept in order to provide you with the ultimate flexibility when choosing how you would like to attend their ATPL revision classes with us. You can now choose to sit-in or log-in for your classes. You can even alternate from day to day, by logging in on one day or physically attending the class on the next.

The concept is simple: our "live" ATPL revision classes will continue to be conducted on location in Dublin, Ireland. Some students may be "in-class" and others will be attending by logging in. In order to ensure a fantastic classroom experience for those attending remotely, we have invested in 4K webcams, a dedicated instructor login station, and a classroom facing flat-screen display where the faces of those attending remotely will even be displayed to the students who are attending physically - so everyone will feel part of our new "hybrid" classroom environment!

Aside from affording the possibility of reducing associated travel/accommodation costs, with the current global pandemic it will also permit students to attend who, due to current travel restrictions, may not be able to travel to us. It even allows our current students to decide to "drop in" for a subject revision if they have already completed the respective model (subject to classroom capacity).
