Crew Resource Management (CRM) training
What is CRM?
Crew Resource Management (CRM) has been identified as one of the most important safety factor in the domain of Air Transport. Under normal conditions, Flight Crews rely on highly automated systems. Complacency and over-reliance on automation are well known threats and monitoring and communication have become core competences for safety. When confronted to complex failure conditions or adverse unforeseen situations, automated systems might not be able to deliver their intended function or might revert to modes that can confuse pilots. Under such challenging circumstances, the psychological and cognitive reactions to an expected event play a critical role in maintaining control on the situation and preventing aircraft upsets. Pilot competences in non-technical skills are paramount to a safe system and are developed with CRM training.
What about CRM training and the regulatory requirements?
Operators are required to provide initial CRM training to flight crews and thereafter provide training on a periodic basis. EASA (under 2015/022/R and 2015/023/R) has recently extended and modernised the CRM training scheme.
ASG is an Approved Training Organisation (ATO) of EASA regulated by the Irish Aviation Authority (IAA). We offer bespoke CRM training packages to Airlines and other Air Transport operators in order to meet the regulatory requirements in terms of the provision of an initial and recurrent CRM training programme. Our CRM training encompasses a wide range of knowledge, skills and attitudes including automation management, monitoring and intervention, resilience development, surprise and startle effect management, safety culture and cultural differences; together with all the human dimensions which each of these areas entails.
Our training is characterised by providing organisations with a bespoke, high quality, and personalised training experience. We believe in delivering the highest standard of theoretical knowledge instruction. Our instructors are truly passionate about what they do - each one is chosen for their subject matter expertise and practical Airline industry experience which adds real value to the student experience by bringing the subject to life. Our CRM Instructors are operational in the aviation industry and include: current airline pilots, type rating instructors, aircraft and avionics technicians, human factors specialists, military pilot instructors, aeronautical engineers, and air traffic controllers.
