ASG and Skymates Flight Academy have today announced the launch of a new and exciting strategic partnership. ASG will become Skymates’ sole provider of EASA Air Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL) theory training.

Diarmuid O’Riordan, ASG’s founder stated: “We’re excited to announce our partnership with Skymates Flight Academy and our continued expansion in to the US Pilot training market. Established in 1996, Skymates is one of the most prestigious flight training academies in the US having successfully trained over 3000 Pilots at their purpose built facility in Grand Prairie (Texas) with a fleet of over 25 aircraft. We’re looking forward to working with the team at Skymates and we’re delighted to be able to make ASG’s high quality ATPL theory training available to their students at exclusive rates. Uniquely, with our hybrid classroom concept, Skymates’ students in the US will be able to login and attend our EASA Approved theory classes without ever having to travel to Europe. We have invested in 4K webcams, RØDE broadcast quality microphones, a dedicated instructor login station, and a classroom facing flat-screen display where the faces of those attending remotely will even be displayed to the students who are attending physically so that each student, whether attending physically or remotely, feels part of our classroom”.

About ASG

ASG is an Approved Training Organisation of the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) permitted to deliver training for the award of an Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL). Since its foundation in 2015, ASG’s approach to ATPL training has been characterised by providing students with a bespoke, high quality, and personalised training experience. The training philosophy is to provide premium quality instruction which will benefit prospective airline pilots throughout their career in aviation, from job interview to operations as an Airline Pilot, and not simply to pass the theoretical knowledge examinations.

Class sizes are limited to ensure the optimum learning environment. The ASG team supports students throughout their ATPL training journey and deliver the highest standards of theoretical knowledge instruction. The team of 25+ instructors are operational in the aviation industry and include: current airline pilots, type rating instructors, aircraft and avionics technicians, human factors specialists, military pilot instructors, aeronautical engineers, and air traffic controllers. Our professional team truly differentiates ASG from other training providers; each instructor is chosen for their subject matter expertise and practical industry experience—invaluable resources to the student experience and helps to bring the ATPL subjects to life.

The ASG team are proud to have delivered an intensive two-week (16th - 27th August) Search and Rescue (SAR) Aviation Tasking & Co-ordination course to our partners at the Irish Coast Guard (IRCG). This is 8th SATaC course which we have successfully conducted for the IRCG team.

The aim of the course was to provide in-depth theoretical knowledge in subjects relevant to SAR Aviation Tasking and Co-ordination (SATaC). Some of the subjects included: Operational Risk Management, Meteorology, Navigation and map-reading, Principles of Flight / Mass & Balance, Flight Planning, Air Law, Communications, Operational Procedures, Human Factors and Crew Resource Management (CRM), SAR Operations, Fatigue Risk Management and Flight Time Limitations.

We are very proud to be assisting Ireland's front line services with critical training of this nature.
Over the past two years, we have built up significant expertise and experience in delivering courses for customers remotely and we were delighted to be able to use this expertise to provide this vital training to the Irish Coast Guard which co-ordinates all Search and Rescue (SAR) services for Ireland 24 hours per day, 365 days per year.

Today we were being joined by new students at our state-of-the art facility in Dublin. We were also joined by students from all over the world who chose to log in remotely instead of physically attending class.

ASG offers an innovative new "hybrid" classroom concept in order to provide you with the ultimate flexibility when choosing how you would like to attend their ATPL revision classes with us. You can now choose to sit-in or log-in for your classes. You can even alternate from day to day, by logging in on one day or physically attending the class on the next.

The concept is simple: our "live" ATPL revision classes will continue to be conducted on location in Dublin, Ireland. Some students may be "in-class" and others will be attending by logging in. In order to ensure a fantastic classroom experience for those attending remotely, we have invested in 4K webcams, a dedicated instructor login station, and a classroom facing flat-screen display where the faces of those attending remotely will even be displayed to the students who are attending physically - so everyone will feel part of our new "hybrid" classroom environment!

Aside from affording the possibility of reducing associated travel/accommodation costs, with the current global pandemic it will also permit students to attend who, due to current travel restrictions, may not be able to travel to us. It even allows our current students to decide to "drop in" for a subject revision if they have already completed the respective model (subject to classroom capacity).

At the fourth annual Irish Enterprise Awards, ASG is proud to have been awarded "Aviation School of the Year" for 2021.

Awardees must demonstrate expertise within a given field, dedication to customers service and commitment to excellence and innovation. Research was centred around an in-depth evaluation of skills and services on offer and the wider market reputation of each nominee was also taken into consideration.

The award statement reads:
"Now in its fourth year of showcasing exemplary Irish business, this awards programme has continued to highlight and recognise the enterprises that are thriving across the entirety of Ireland. Whilst it is an understatement to say that the last year has been a challenging one, the COVID-19 pandemic has also been a catalyst for immense change. There have been times of uncertainty which has forced a colossal transformation of global business; however, many Irish enterprises and businesses have achieved great things despite the obstacles facing them. Ultimately, every success – whether a minor victory or major achievement – should be celebrated as an extraordinary accomplishment given these unprecedented times. To learn more about our award winners and to gain an insight into the working practices of the “best of the best”, please visit EU Business News here, where you can access the winners supplement."

Speaking about the award, Diarmuid O'Riordan, ASG founder, commented that: "We were first contacted in December 2020 and were advised that we had been nominated for this award. This past year has left aviation training organisations with little choice but to innovate, improvise, and to overcome the unprecedented challenges facing us as all a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. We have invested significantly throughout the pandemic with our hybrid classroom concept and feel that we are now well positioned to grow as the aviation industry recovers, and to deliver for our students across what is now a location independent global aviation training market.  Winning this award is a validation of how the ASG team has responded to these challenges and continue to go from strength to strength in order to enrich the learning experience for our students".

ASG partners with Florida flight school to provide hour building solutions for our students

18/4/2021

In order to meet the requirements to commence Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) training, modular students are required to build up a certain amount of flight experience. This is commonly referred to as "hour building". With weather and fuel prices in Europe, this can prove to be costly and take significantly longer than is necessary.

ASG Managing Director, Diarmuid O'Riordan, comments that:

"In order to assist our ATPL theory students, we have established a partnership with the
Irish-owned Flight School, Global Flight Training Solutions (GFTS), in Florida (USA) in order to make the hour building process as efficient, fun, easy, and inexpensive as possible
.

While many hour building packages are offered across the US, few are
Irish owned and designed specifically for visiting European students. Quite often the rates that are quoted involve no training or administrative support and are simply aircraft rates with fuel. This is not practicable for a European student given the nuances of the FAA system and the local regulatory requirements.

Our new training partners have a track record for delivering the highest standards of training and safety, and we really look forward to building on this relationship. Their team will be able to guide students through the processes and provide local training in order to get you in the air to build your hours as quickly and as safely as possible.

Having completed my own hour building there, I can personally testify to the fact that Southwest Florida, which enjoys more than
300 days of sunshine per year, is the ideal location for building flight experience prior to progressing to Commercial flight training"
Picture

Our partner is based at the 24hr Immokalee Regional Airport which boasts two 5000ft (1500m) runways. Landing fees at our 24hr homebase are included and you will find that many airports in Florida do not charge for visiting aircraft!

Offer of European ATPL theory to US Pilots

Global Flight Training Solutions will also be ASG's exclusive partner on the US East Coast by offering US Pilots the opportunity to complete their European ATPL theory and examinations for conversion to a European licence while being able to attend our classes remotely from the US.

Hour building aircraft and rates

As an example of the savings possible, for our Cessna 172 aircraft, we can book you a 100hr flight time building package for as little as €11,500 excluding flights/accommodation. In Europe, 100 flight hours would would cost in excess of €20,000 and would take significantly longer to accrue.

Included in our rates are:

  • A personalized, intensive 4 to 6-week hour building program
  • Customized training for any experience level
  • Exclusive access to our C172s, the industry’s finest, safest trainer
  • Up to 10 hours Dual included with an FAA Certificated Flight Instructor
  • Detailed guidance on plane performance, local flying conditions, and rules
  • No hidden fees or extra charges for full-stop or touch-and-go landings

Due to currency fluctuations, our hour building rates can change, please e-mail us on info@asg.ie or call us on +35316859021 for your personalised quotation.

Welcome to ASG! This evening some new Pilots have joined our crew and they're attending from four different countries.

With our “game changing” hybrid classroom, ASG students can now elect to attend our live classes online without ever having to leave their home! The concept is simple: our "live" ATPL revision classes are conducted on location in Dublin, Ireland. Some students are "in-class" and others will be attending by logging in. In order to ensure a fantastic classroom experience for those attending remotely, we have invested in 4K webcams, a dedicated instructor login station, and a classroom facing flat-screen display where the faces of those attending remotely will even be displayed to the students who are attending physically - so everyone feels part of our "hybrid" classroom environment!

Aside from affording the possibility of reducing associated travel/accommodation costs for students worldwide, with the current global pandemic it also permits students to attend who, due to current travel restrictions, might not be able to travel to attend classes. They can choose to sit their exams with any EASA Authority.

ASG has agreed a partnership to work closely with Simtech Aviation to provide students with preferential access and rates to undertake Simtech Aviation's industry leading APS-MCC (Airline Pilot Specific Multi-Crew Co-operation) and MCC-JOC (Multi-Crew Co-operation and Jet Orientation Course) courses. ASG will also now provide ATPL theory training on behalf of Simtech Aviation and its customers.

Key ATPL theory features

  • All ATPL theory training can be completed online, including revision classes, or students can elect to alternate between attending class online (login) or in-class (sit-in).
  • If attending classes remotely, there are no travel or visa costs
  • Students can elect to sit the ATPL examinations in any EASA member state
  • The industry's leading ATPL instructional team (see here for details).

Commenting on the partnership, Diarmuid O'Riordan (ASG founder), noted:

"
We are delighted to partner with Simtech Aviation which has been a pillar brand in aviation training for many years. Both ASG & Simtech Aviation have a firm vision of delivering the highest quality aviation training.

ASG's administrative and classroom facilities will now be permanently based at Simtech's unique aviation training centre. Our ATPL students are fortunate to have the opportunity to learn in a 20,000 square feet training centre located right next to Dublin Airport in a facility which has been designed from the ground up to provide a best-in-class learning environment for aviation professionals. We are fortunate to share this fantastic facility with a number of airlines and training organisations and it houses a fleet of Full-motion and fixed-base Flight Simulation Devices, some of which our students get to sample on their breaks from classes. It really is a unique aviation training environment which is ideal for any aspiring aviation student.

Although it is not the most expensive component of Pilot training, the decision as to where to complete an APS/MCC/JOC course is one of the most important choices which a student will face in terms of their likely success with Airline Assessments and subsequent Type Ratings. I  completed my own MCC/JOC course with Simtech Aviation so I can personally testify to the exceptional standard of Pilot training that they provide. There is simply no better preparation for a job with an Airline and we are delighted to be able to expand our partnership with them".

Des Wynne, Simtech Aviation Sales Director, added: "We are delighted to offer ATPL theory courses as a part of our overall services offering. This will enable both enable experienced ICAO Commercial Pilot License holders convert to an EASA license and EASA PPL holders looking to move to a Commercial Pilots License complete their theory course with some of the best instructors in the industry. The added benefit of being able to attend the classes via an online platform enables us to access the global training market and we are excited by the potential opportunities".
